Hello all... and happy June! I haven't had time to take photos in these days - and because our summer is late, I show you, with old photos, how June usually begins here. :)

It's cold, and it's raining now. → See you soon!

Rhododendron 'Helsinki University'

TÀssÀ postauksessa on kuvia kesÀkuun alusta aikaisemmilta vuosilta.

LÀmpöÀ on nyt kolme astetta. TÀnÀÀn on siis aikaa blogivierailuille. :)

Rosa spinosissima (pimpinellifolia)

Wisteria (in a pot)

Siberian peashrub, Caragana arborescens

Sometimes life gives you nice surprises.  Some Granny's Bonnets (Aquilegia) have spread spontaneously from an unknown site, and they happened to appear around the gravestone of our beloved cat, under a lilac, in partial shade:

Lehtoakileija oli ilmestynyt pihapiiriimme ihan itsestÀÀn ja se oli valinnut hyvin erityisen paikan: 23-vuotiaaksi elĂ€neen kissamme haudan ympĂ€ristön. ♥

French cranesbill, native to the Western Pyrenees in Spain. (In Finnish it is in fact called 'espanjankurjenpolvi'.) It has gained the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit:

Geranium endressii

Kurjenpolvet ovat kauniita, niin luonnonvaraiset kuin eksoottisemmatkin.

Espanjankurjenpolvi

Geranium sanguineum var. striatum, a very pretty cultivar; it has a rounded, compact habit and it produces plenty of flowers almost all summer long. It is a RHS Award winner, too:

Neidonkurjenpolvi

Our wood cranesbills, Geranium sylvaticum, are pretty as well, with colours ranging from mauve to pink and almost white:

  1. Love such small flowers.

Hope your weather gets warmer and drier. Here we have had too much rain, also.

Sun today, and the back yard will be cut and trimmed. Before it becomes a completely overrun "jungle."

    Gentle hugs, Luna Crone

  6. Oh, yes, this year summer is not in a hurry. Today we got the hail.Your last year photos are lovely, especially my favorite 'Helsinki University'!
It's pity the hares like your spiraeas, mine Grefsheime has very weak fruit scent.

  16. Hello, dear Sara, your garden looks very similar to that arboretum we visited some weeks ago... :-D ...the huge pine trees, and the rhododendrons... :-D The little flowers are really lovely, and the lilac is beautiful... I love its fragrance... Your kitten surely had a very happy, and beautiful life. I have never known a cat who lived 23 years. ♥
I hope your weather will get warmer soon. Have a beautiful Sunday and a bright new week!
