A travel diary: Olympic Park, Stratford

Hello all and greetings from the vibrant East London! :) For logistical reasons, I decided to stay in Stratford (a town and parish in London, in the borough of Newham). The weather was sunny and warm at the end of July... and still is. With the temperatures around and above 30C, I really appreciated the well-working air conditioning of my hotel room.

The meadows and fields of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park must look gorgeous in spring and early summer. As you may know, the sunny and dry weather has turned many of the UK's outdoor spaces from lush green to a dry, yellow-brown. Nevertheless, schedules permitting, I happily trotted around, snapping photos (with a compact camera) of flowers and other interesting things.

This is a photo diary. Ten photos in each post and few words. :) Should you have any questions, please feel free to ask in the comments section below.

  2. The wildflowers look quite spectacular, Sara, much better than I would have expected given the hot, dry weather most of Europe has been experiencing. My daughter just returned from a vacation in Portugal where the temperature one day was 47 degrees. Is this an augury of the future?

  10. Beautiful flowers in spite of the hot weather. Blues look so cool. The photo of the pole in the water is lovely and moody, like a Monet painting.

You can see a part of the London Aquatics Centre reflected in the water.
