Dreaming of spring

Täällä on edelleen puolisen metriä lunta eikä kylvöissäkään ole vielä kuvaamista, joten postaan joitakin kukkakuvia edellisvuosilta. Viimeiset kaksi kuvaa on otettu muutama päivä sitten (Pohjois-)Italiassa.

Muistiinpanojani selaillessani huomasin, että vuonna 2014 haravoin pihateitä ja siivosin lupiinipenkkejä maaliskuun puolivälissä. Niin, sinä keväänä suunnittelin puutarhablogia ja tein ensimmäisiä postauksia. Aikainen kevät huijasi uskomaan, että puutarhakausi voisi alkaa täälläkin jo maaliskuussa. :)

Tämä postaus oli tarkoitettu alkuviikolle, mutta se jäi liito-oravan alle. :) Nyt onkin jo aika toivottaa Hyvää viikonloppua!

Dreaming of spring, dreaming of summer... At the moment, there are flowers only inside the home. In June, the area behind our garage will look like this...

... but now it looks like this (snow pushed down from the roof):

Two years ago some potted tulips were blooming indoors in the middle of March. 'Mount Tacoma' was pretty (more photos for example here), but I didn't like the smell...

In Finnish, he sings "ti-ti-tyy".

In Italy, hellebores are now blooming in our garden...

I greet you with this early bloomer (a Prunus?), photographed early in the morning, in Italy. :)

Liito-orava! - Siberian flying squirrel!

Tänään oli tarkoitus postata ihan jotain muuta, mutta tämä harvinainen vieras ohitti kaikki muut aiheet. Näin sen myös liitävän, mutta arvatkaa ehdinkö kuvata sitä jännityksestä tärisevillä käsilläni? :)

The Siberian flying squirrel (Pteromys volans) is an Old World flying squirrel with a range from the Baltic Sea in the west to the Pacific coast in the east. It's the only species of flying squirrel found in Europe. It is considered vulnerable within the European Union where it's found only in Finland and Estonia. Shy and nocturnal animals, they are seldom seen, and that's why I was really thrilled, when I have seen this one, not far from our home.

A hard-working little bird

Warning: Many photos of a single blue tit. One might say these photos are technically bad, I prefer to say they are "hazy and ethereal". :) Well, this is what I saw through the window when the sun was shining directly into my eyes.

I recently read someone describing blue tits as the baddies of the tit family. Around our bird feeder, we haven't seen them behaving more aggressively than the other birds. They do have, though, the courage to come to the feeder also when there are the bigger great tits.

This one was jumping around and picking crumbs fallen from the suet ball.

Aurinko paistoi sekä silmiin että kameraan, kun kuvasin tätä sinitiaista ikkunan läpi, mutta oli se niin söpö hypellessään ympäriinsä nokkimassa talipallosta pudonneita murusia...

The photo below was edited more than the others. I considered fixing all of them like this, but then decided I like more the "dreamy" straight-out-of-the-camera photos. You are entitled to disagree. :)
