Happy New Year!

Wishing you all much happiness for the new year 2015...

Oh look, it's snowing tiny stars!

With the useful Christmas presents received, I'm well prepared for the new gardening year... :)

I will be linking this post to Judith's Lavender Cottage for this week's Mosaic Monday.

Welcome 2015!

♥♥♥

P.S.

Kenneth Libbrecht and Patricia Rasmussen have made a lovely book about snowflakes.
(You can find some photos from it in my post of 26 September.)

All of you interested in trees and photography, have you already seen this http://www.boredpanda.com/ancient-tree-photography-beth-moon/?

P.P.S.

(On the fourth of January.) The new year has brought interesting (but not unusual) weather events. During this week, the temperatures have been varying between +2 degrees and -27 degrees Celsius, respectively about 36 and -17 in Fahrenheit. It has been snowing much, and when the wet, heavy snow hangs on the trees in clogging masses, especially with a lowering temperature going below freezing, there will be troubles. Yesterday we were without electric power almost all day, and it seems the crews are still working on power restoration in some areas. And more snow is expected in the next days...

  1. Happy New Year, Sara! You'll be all ready for spring with your new things. How pretty the snow stars are - I'm still hoping we get some snow here this winter. It's frosty this morning, but bright and clear.

  3. Ihan mahtavaa uuttavuuotta vielä tänne blogiinkin! Huikaisevan kaunis tuo sinun lumihiutalekuvasi! Riemuisaa uutta puutarhastelukautta!!

    1. Kiitos samoin, Laura! :)
Tein pari päivää sitten vuoden ensimmäisen siementilaukseni. Kylvöni eivät kyllä yleensä onnistu erikoisen hyvin, mutta jos jotain itää, onkin taas uutta kaunista tiedossa. Suunnittelu ja haaveilukin on jo riemuisaa...

  9. I like the cover of your new gardening book Sara and know the jazzy new implements will be used well. Hmm, sit and eat the chocolates while reading the book and dreaming of changes for the garden in spring!
I'm going to check out the links you've provided.
We received snow and freezing rain over the last two days with more snow on the way for Monday.
Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday.

In fact, there would also have been another book about gardens to share, but it's cover didn't fit into the colour scheme I had in mind for this post... :)
In the mosaic, there is a garden diary. It's not the most informative among those available here, but I find it very suitable for my purposes.
The first seed catalogue of this year has arrived and today came also the January copy of my favourite garden magazine. So much to dream about!
      Have a lovely new week!

  10. I hope that by now your power has been restored. Winter and I have come to an understanding these past few years. I will try to get outside and enjoy it a little bit each day and winter will try not to be such a beast. Still though, sometimes the snowflakes look prettiest in a book.

    1. That was so well said (about you and winter)! :)
Yes, the power has been restored. In any case, here in the countryside a hand-portable engine-generator is almost a must...
I read in your profile that you live on an island. How I envy you!
      Happy New Year!
