Hyvää ystävänpäivää! - Flowers for friends

Oikein hyvää ystävänpäivää kaikille lukijoille!

As many of the foreign readers of this blog know, 14 February is called "Ystävänpäivä" ("Friend's Day") in Finland and it is indeed (more) about remembering friends than connected with romantic love. It's actually quite nice - you can do either way or both! For someone like me, fond of flowers, cards, chocolate, hearts, and pink, Valentine's Day is a lovely holiday. I hope you all are having a happy day as well. :)

Kuten arvasitte, olen taas leikkinyt kuvageneraattorilla. Oi voi, lupasin jo viikkoja sitten tehdä postauksen tästä aiheesta... Minulla onkin monta luvattua aihetta odottamassa. Mitä ikävämpi aihe (esim. terveydenhuollon ongelmat), sitä korkeampi on kynnys alkaa kirjoittaa postausta.

Tänään ei ajatella ikäviä asioita, vaan iloitaan talvesta..

 ... ja toisaalta kevään lähestymisestä. :)

My opinion: Interesting and very beautiful.
Recommend? Yes!

Received as a Christmas present from an attentive family member, this wonderful book charmed me from the beginning, as can be expected. :) It's lovely to browse through the informative and very beautifully illustrated pages.

The book helps the reader to recognise similar characteristics among plants and identify which family they belong to. The families are listed in roughly evolutionary order - and I find especially interesting the sections about the origins of each family.

The plant families explored are indeed the most familiar ones, also to us (enthusiastic) amateurs. Nevertheless, there's much to learn. Text boxes also give helpful insights into how to use each family and how to make the plants thrive. 

Sain tämän ihastuttavan kirjan joululahjaksi. Kuvista tuli pimeitä ja epätarkkoja, mutta eiköhän kirjan kauneus tule kuitenkin esiin. :)

Hello all and Happy Valentine's Day tomorrow!

I had promised to take photos of some of my favourite items in our home and these fridge magnets are so pretty that they must be posted now. :) If you google the artist, Minna Immonen, you will find images of very many wonderful postcards, posters and calendars.

Hyvää Ystävänpäivää huomenna! Tässä postauksessa esittelen suosikkejani, joista on ollut blogiystävien kanssa puhetta. Ensimmäisenä Minna Immosen jääkaappimagneetteja. Eivätkö ne olekin aivan ihania?

Myös (japanilaisesta) paperintaittelusta on ollut puhetta blogiystävien kanssa. Pitäisi kyllä kokeilla näitä malleja...

Nämä lasit ovat väriensä takia suosikkejani, vaikka ne ovat aika isoja ja painavia. Niihin mahtuu kolme desilitraa limsaa. :)

These Murano drinking glasses are my favourites. They are rather heavy and have slightly irregular forms.
