Summer 2018 in phone pics - Kesäkuvia

It's soon November and it's time to post the last summer photos. :)

Tämän postauksen ensimmäiset kuvat on otettu vanhalla puhelimella, jossa ei ollut erityisen hyvä kamera, ja loppupään kuvat uudella, jossa on parempi kamera, jota en osaa vielä käyttää. :)

I love afternoon sun... you look so tall and slim. :)

My old phone didn't have a very good camera:

One of my favourite detective fiction authors. His novels take place in the town where I lived some years ago:

Huom. Tämä pistooli ampuu vain pieniä muovikuulia! :)

I have a new phone now and I seem to use its camera especially for taking photos of sunsets...

Tunnelmallista marraskuuta!

Have a great November!

(As always, I try to visit you soon!)

"Christmas red" - Kaksi kuukautta!

In the Finnish language, we have a colour called "joulunpunainen". In Swedish, there's "julröd" and in German "weihnachtsrot". I'm not quite certain if "Christmas red" exists but it must be a lovely shade of red. :)

According to Wikipedia, the traditional colours of Christmas decorations are red, green and gold. Red symbolizes the blood of Jesus, which was shed in his crucifixion, while green symbolizes eternal life, and in particular the evergreen tree, which does not lose its leaves in the winter, and gold is the first colour associated with Christmas, as one of the three gifts of the Magi, symbolizing royalty. Father Christmas/Santa Claus traditionally wears red, because the original Saint Nicholas was a bishop of the Greek Christian church in the 4th century and bishops then dressed in red.

To my evergrowing book shopping list are added at least these books:
Collins, Ace. Stories Behind the Great Traditions of Christmas. Zondervan.
Bowler, Gerry. The World Encyclopedia of Christmas. Random House LLC.

Jaahah, jouluaattoon on kaksi kuukautta.

My next year's planner/organizer/diary will look better than ever, well, at least December will look fabulous with these stickers.

Ihanaa päivää!

Have a lovely day!

A travel diary: Last part - Memories

Things I had with me, things I received, things I bought...

Kiitos kaikille kommenteistanne!

I ❤ button badges.

... and it does it so well. :)

Bye bye, London! Till we meet again!

This is the last part of the travel diary. Thank you for bearing with me! :)

A travel diary: Canary Wharf, London

Tall buildings, calming green spaces, and nice restaurants. :)

Thames-joen toisella puolella siintää City of London - vielä hiljattain maailman johtava finanssikeskus.

A travel diary: Texts and a mural

A country girl used to the right-hand traffic, I found the texts like the one above very helpful in a big left-hand traffic city. :)

Hello all and happy Sunday! This is the antepenultimate one of my posts about Great Britain. :) During my brief trip in July, in addition to shooting everything around me, often I pointed my camera upwards and even more often I shot what I was walking on... and found many useful/interesting/amusing signs and texts. :)

Hei ja hyvää sunnuntaita! Postaussarja heinäkuisesta matkastani Iso-Britanniaan alkaa lähestyä loppuaan. :) Lontoon julkista liikennettä pidetään hyvin toimivana, ja kätevää liikkuminen siellä olikin. Myös kävely onnistui mainiosti - ainakin käyttämäni reitit olivat selvästi merkittyjä. Kamera tallensi monia hauskoja ja hyödyllisiä tekstejä matkan varrelta.

Tähän postaukseen ei voi jättää kommenttia. Olen taas pahasti jäljessä blogivierailuissa. Tavataan mahdollisimman pian. Mukavaa uutta viikkoa! ♥

A random sticker stuck to pavement... :D

King's College, Cambridge - These signs apply in normal summers as well. :)

With this cheerful mural, I wish you a happy week ahead:

PS In my previous post, I mentioned that some snow was expected to fall (in Eastern Finland) in the last days of September. Well, it didn't happen - but we did get some snow two days ago. It melted soon.

I have been struggling with my blog visits recently and that's why comments are disabled for this post. See you soon!
