Bloginostalgiaa - Reposted Friday thoughts

Helmikuuta Pohjois-Italiassa

Hei ja ihanaa helmikuista perjantaita!

Villa Emilia -blogi täyttää tänä vuonna 10 vuotta. Aloitin siis 2014, en todellakaan ensimmäisten joukossa. :) Innoituksenani olivat puutarha-, koti- ja käsityöaiheiset blogit varsinkin Yhdysvalloista ja Kanadasta ja kielenäkin alussa etupäässä englanti. Osallistuin kivoihin blogihaasteisiin ja tutustuin pian moniin ihaniin bloggaajiin... joista monet eivät valitettavasti enää päivitä blogejaan. Muistan lämpimästi esimerkiksi tämän postauksen alkuperäisiä kommentoijia.

Kommenteista puheen ollen, muutama päivä sitten löysin yhden oman kommenttini blogini roskapostista. :) Muitakin sinne on mennyt aiheettomasti, joten muistakaa tarkistaa roskapostikansionne säännöllisesti.

Alkuvuosieni postaukset alkavat näyttää minusta jo varsin nostalgisilta.

Alla olevat kuvat ja tekstit ovat helmikuulta 2015.

FROM 2015: Fun, Fabulous, Fantastic or Fascinating Friday...

I have noticed that many blogs participate in different kinds of "Five on Friday" or "Friday's Favourites" blog challenges. Such a good idea! For today's post, I have made a list of five things that made me happy during this week - there were many of them:

1. Health. What I was afraid could be the seasonal influenza, might indeed be the influenza, but with symptoms alleviated by the vaccine. A great excuse for having a nap or going to bed early. :) Eating candies is not good especially when you are ill, but they do look invigorating.
EDIT 2/2024: I don't like this photo very much any more but I keep it as a memory because it was part of the original post. :)

2. Spring is on its way. We still haven't seen much sun in this part of the country, but at least we have had some days with pleasant temperatures.
EDIT 2/2024: That was 2015. This year it's the opposite. There's much sunshine... and cold temperatures, -31 C last night. :)

3. Seed packets hold the promise of spring. This lavender should survive in our hardiness zone. (From Exotic Garden.)
EDIT 2/2024: My lavenders are still alive and when finally moved in full sun and in well-drained soil, last summer they were doing well. <3

Who wouldn't love lavenders? What is funny in the (old) picture below is that it was a photo of me watering the shrubs (in Italy) but you can't see me anymore... One of my first efforts of photo-editing. :)

4. Inspiring plant catalogues keep arriving in these weeks. In this one (of Garden Center Kauppila, in Turku) there were for example Petunias in lovely tones. I would love to mix these colours...

5. ... a little bit like Nature does.

In 2015, I joined Karen at My Little Home and Garden for Sunlit Sunday. The links seem to work but unfortunately the blog is not active at the moment.

Ihanaa viikonloppua kaikille!

🤗

Have a lovely weekend!

  1. I had the flu at Christmas time even though I had the flu shot in October. It did not last as long but I felt very ill form it--many body aches. I hope you feel better!

I love the smell of lavender! It is the one shrub that the deer here don't seem to want to eat, so it grows well

Beautiful winter sky! Enjoy the weekend!

  4. Hope you are feeling better now, dear Sara. I've never grown lavender, but I can appreciate how much joy you are getting from those seed catalogues at this time of year. What a beautiful sunset sky! Happy Valentines Day to you!

  6. I like your happy thoughts! That picture with the droplet falling is wonderful! I tried lavender once but found it to be such a woody plant and not attractive. Since then I've learned there are different varieties so I should try it again. I hope you are feeling better- winter is bad enough without getting sick! The beautiful sunset sky pictures are beautiful!

  7. Beautiful sky photos! Such pretty colours in the clouds. The petunia varieties look really interesting and so colourful. They would be lovely mixed together. It's nice to start thinking about spring gardening although it's months away yet for us. Have a great week. Pam

  9. Those Petunia colors look awesome. I like new varities like that. It's a bit early yet for thinking about planting those here but the tulips and daffodils are up out of the ground and budded so soon we can enjoy them. Your sunset shots were glorious and lovely.

  10. Sara... Such lovely thoughts ... 5 happies from the previous week! The colors in your photos are stunning... Especially your sunsets. Tried lavender last year from seed... No luck. Will make the investment and buy a couple of pots of established plants this year. Hope you are felt better. Smiles...Susan

    1. 💐 Kiitos, Rita! Sinullahan bloggausvuosia on vieläkin enemmän. 💐 On tämä kyllä kiva harrastus. Saa valokuvata, kirjoittaa ja vielä tutustua uusiin ihmisiin, Suomessa ja kauempanakin. 💐

  13. Dear Sara, I have been slow commenting on this post, as I wanted to research how long we have been following each other. I started posting in 2013 and we found one another's blogs in February 2016.
As I scrolled through your earlier posts, I found 3 names familiar with me. Pamela Gordon, whom I only know through Instagram, [found via you, I think] Marji and Barbara. What a wonderful world blogging is!
Those first post that I read, have always stayed in my memory. Bliss, Bliss 2 and My This Week's Favourite Five! You always share the amazing beauty of where you live and its seasons. Thank you from Down Under!

    1. 💐 Thank you, dear Helen! For your comment, for the detective work...and for having made my life more interesting. Reading your blog, I have learnt so much about Australia! 💐 I went to see the post Bliss and felt very nostalgic. So many familiar names in the comments section... and few that have continued blogging. 💐 In the past, I remembered almost everything. Now, I don't unfortunately remember how we found one another's blogs. It must have been through some Canadian or American blogs. Fortunately. 💐
