Dreaming of spring

Täällä on edelleen puolisen metriä lunta eikä kylvöissäkään ole vielä kuvaamista, joten postaan joitakin kukkakuvia edellisvuosilta. Viimeiset kaksi kuvaa on otettu muutama päivä sitten (Pohjois-)Italiassa.

Dreaming of spring, dreaming of summer... At the moment, there are flowers only inside the home. In June, the area behind our garage will look like this...

... but now it looks like this (snow pushed down from the roof):

Two years ago some potted tulips were blooming indoors in the middle of March. 'Mount Tacoma' was pretty (more photos for example here), but I didn't like the smell...

Tulipa 'Mount Tacoma'

... and so last year I tried something else. In this post (and it's one of my favourite posts!), you can also see how these 'Sweet Desire' tulips were supposed to look:

Tulipa 'Sweet Desire'

In Finnish, he sings "ti-ti-tyy".

This was my favourite hellebore, one of the victims of the harsh January 2016:

Helleborus orientalis 'Pretty Ellen'

In Italy, hellebores are now blooming in our garden...

I greet you with this early bloomer (a Prunus?), photographed early in the morning, in Italy. :)

I was planning a post especially for Five on Friday, hosted for the last time by Amy of Love Made My Home, but had some schedule issues. Since there are photos of five genera (Kalanchoe, Lupinus, Tulipa, Helleborus, and Prunus), I decided to participate with this post. :)

Thank you, Amy, for hosting. Five on Friday has been great fun.

Have a lovely weekend, everyone!

  4. Näillä kuvilla pääsee kevään odotustunnelmiin. Meillä sataa tänään mutta eilen oli aurinkoista. Lunta ei enää ole paljonkaan. Teillähän on ihan muhkeat nietokset !

Päätin pistää lupiininsiemenet ostoslistalle kun taas näin noita meheviä kukkasiasi 💕

    Mitä parhainta viikonloppua 🙂

    1. Kiitos, Rita!
Kirjolupiinit ovat ihania. Muista hiekkainen, vähäravinteinen maa - ei lannoitusta! :)

  5. Ihanat kuvat, etenkin tuo lupiinimeri.

  16. How amazing photos, Sara! Those tulips are wonderful!
I'm so sorry about your lovely hellebore! I've only seen green-flowered ones. There were a lot of fragrant hellebores close to my grandparents' house in the forest.
The picture from Italy is fabulous. :-)
Have a beautiful weekend, Sara! Hugs!

  25. Lovely spring dreams here, Sara! I especially love the lupines and hellebore. The mountain I look out on (Mt. Rainier) is actually originally named Mt. Tacoma by the native peoples here, and the city of Tacoma is just 30 miles from us here. I was surprised to see the tulips with that name. Too bad they have a bad smell :( Let's hope spring is not too far away! xx Karen

  27. Me too! Me too! Talvi voisi jo älytä hiljalleen poistua...ihana tuo puu Italiassa, kirsikka tai luumu, haluu tuommoisen myös. Ostin pussillisen sellaisia minikokoisen lupiinin siemeniä. Ihania. Hyvää viikonloppua toivotellen..

Oi, en ole koskaan kokeillut minilupiineja. Kuvissa ne näyttävät todella kauniilta eivätkä varmaan taivu sateessa yhtä helposti kuin nämä tavalliset.
