Lainsuojattomat - Good, bad or ugly?

Viime päivien lupiinikuvia tienvarsilta ja omasta pihasta. :)

Hello all! In Finland, a heated debate is raging between Lupin lovers and Lupin haters. Unfortunately no distinction is made between Lupinus polyphyllus (classed as an invasive species here) and its garden cultivars.

Naturally, I continue to take photos of them as long as I can, in our garden and alongside the roads. :)

Ihania kesäpäiviä kaikille!

Take time to enjoy the season! :)

    1. Thank you very much, Maristella and Lorrie! There seem to be truly spectacular lupin areas in Canada...
      Stay safe and well!

  4. Upeita ovat. Omat kirjolupiinini ovat pettymys. Varret ovat heikkoja ja ihan normivärisiäkin.

  5. Lupiinit tuoksuvat kyllä niin ihanille, lapsena niitä usein siskojen kanssa äidille kerättiin:) Aurinkoista viikkoa sinne♥

      Ihanaa viikonloppua!

  7. Wonderful lupines, wonderful pollinators, wonderful garden, and no doubt wonderful fragrance! It is pretty straightforward for me, Sara! Oh, and by the way, I am relieved to know that Finland is not part of Russia! Enjoy the week ahead,

  8. I'm very protective of the few lupins that we have growing in the garden. The slugs love them so many small ones that have been cultivated are eaten before they can get established. It must be wonderful to see them growing wild. So many of them! Wishing you a peaceful week ahead.

    1. Thank you very much, David and Linda!
In our area, we don't have the problem of slugs... yet. Have you tried growing lupins in pots, not transplanting them into the ground, Linda?
I am relieved too, David. When I was young, the country's status was somewhat unclear. :D
      Stay safe and well!

    2. We do start some plants that are vulnerable to slugs in pots until they get mature. I keep lupins and delphiniums inside the enclosed conservatory/yard. One lupin has been planted in a flower bed and is now established. I was pleased to see a few flowers.

  14. Wondrous, stunning, colourful, vibrant and majestic, how sad that they are considered invasive. Thank you for these spectacular images Sara. They bring me so much joy!

  15. I guess any plant can be invasive in the right setting. They sure are beautiful, though. I tried to grow our native Lupine in the garden this year and completely failed.
