Happy weekend!

Hello all! With this post I participate in

Saturday's Critters, hosted by Eileen,

Sunlit Sunday, hosted by Karen

and

Mosaic Monday, hosted by Judith.

Thank you to all the hosts!

It's cold outside. When I'm writing this on Saturday morning, it's still dark outside and the temperature is -31 degrees Celsius (-23,8 degrees Fahrenheit). When the sun rises, the first thing to do is to make certain the bird feeder (and at the same time the unofficial squirrel feeder) is full.

These photos were taken yesterday. Do join me, my camera and a zoom lens for a short walk! :)

Tracks I'm not able to identify. I'm afraid it could be a mink (Neovison vison).

Many of you have already seen my fern frost photos. In the not heated porch of a summer house, there are windows to three directions. There I was, turning like a spinning top, trying to capture the lovely play of light and colours.  My photos, especially when compressed, fail to do justice to it. I'm dreaming of... a macro lens. ♫

Nature is an amazing artist.

Three photos added on Sunday afternoon:

I hope you enjoyed the photos.  Have a lovely weekend!

  6. Todella mielenkiintoiset tassunjäljet, niin säntilliset... En ole tuommoisia ikinä nähnyt, ehkä tosiaan minkki... Meillä näkyy jäniksenjälkiä ympäri puutarhaa. Saapa nähdä keväällä mitä on syöty!

Kauniita kylmiä kuvia! Vietä lämpimässä mukava sunnuntai!

Linnuista on kyllä huolehdittava näillä keleillä, minä kävin ulkona vain viemässä niille ruokaa. Ja hakemassa puita takkaan:)

  29. Well that is some mighty cold weather - I almost feel bad for complaining about my temperatures that have barely reached the minuses some nights! It looks like you rewarded yourself with a nice hot treat once back home. Yum.

The third picture down is adorable!

  30. Your images are beautiful, Sara. I love how you capture the beauty of winter. The frost photos are stunning; they remind of one the houses I lived in as a child, when I would wake up to see what paintings Jack Frost had left on my window. Thank you for participating in Sunlit Sunday and sharing your appreciation for this season.

  32. I always shudder when I see how cold Finland can get and yet you manage to get outside to take the most incredible photos. You would definitely benefit from a macro lens, hope one comes to you soon Sara. I looked in my animal tracks book and the tracks you captured could indeed be mink, one footprint slightly in front of the other.

  33. Fabulous woodpecker and tracks. Those frosty windows are so creative....love your captures. Seems it has to be pretty cold to get that frosty window. We are getting another snow storm again so we are hunkering down indoors!

  34. Hi, Sara! Beautiful frosty pictures. I have stolen some of ideas for photos for my Sunday's walk, as we finally also have winter here. -32C!!!! How do you survive this? Here, kids are allowed not to go to school if it is -20C outside.

  35. Yes, I so enjoyed those fern frost photos and I'm so curious as to the tracks! I think it's -17F. here this morning, but that temp is taken in the village and we're always a bit colder. At those temps, it hardly seems to matter, because in my book it's just plain too cold! I'm so thankful for our wood burning stove and a good supply of firewood.

  38. Hello Sara !
I think this is my first time here and I am in love with your photos: )
The frost pictures are absolutely stunning .. we don't get a chance to see that any more since windows have evolved so heat efficient etc .. so seeing these have reminded me of my childhood and the awe I had in seeing those amazing patterns.
    Thank you !
    Joy : )
