Neutral colours and a marshmallow collage

Hello! I have had some busy days recently, but at least finally I was able to take some photos and choose five of them for

Last night we received some wet snow and here are five photos (taken today about at noon) that show a Finnish November day in all its beautiful greyness:

It will look like this for some time now and that may be one of the reasons why I love colours. Bright colours and pastel shades.  Another thing that I love are self-striping sock yarns and since I needed to spend a day in town recently, I went on a bit of yarn binging.

I bought several balls of wool and the colour above is one of my favourites. It's called "Marshmallow". Feeling very inspired, I decided it was time for me to buy some of these "sugar based confections" as well, for the first time in my life. :) There were fewer colours than I had expected (and they didn't fit very well to my photographic purposes), but these candies do look soft and tempting... Have you ever made them at home?

And so, here you are, my collage for this week's Mosaic Monday:

Have a lovely day!

  2. Your 'first snow' photos are so beautiful, Sara, especially the birch woods. I have mittens that my sister knit me years ago that are made with a similar yarn like you chose. We've had some mild days here and no snow yet. Enjoy the weekend.

  8. Your first photo is stunning. It would look wonderful in a canvas print, large, hanging on a wall. I love the colors - blues, greys, tans, whites.
Yes, I've made marshmallows and I hope to do it again this year. They were delicious pillowy clouds of sweetness. Your marshmallow collage has me craving some, maybe with a mug of hot chocolate this evening. Have a wonderful weekend, Sara. I envy you the first snow.

  10. Niin kauniit ja rauhalliset koivut ja kaislikko... Tuntuvat levittävän rauhaa tähän järkytysten lauantaiaamuun Pariisin tapahtumien jälkeen... Vaahtokarkkikollaasi on kaunis myös huurrettuine sävyineen.

  22. Hi, Sara! We have snow+rain today but I hope snow melts very soon because temps are above zero. So does snow in your place. I do think about knitting as well and about cross stitching this winter. I'm wanting to make very colorful things :0).

  24. Minusta tuo lanka josta tulee automatic raitasukat on yksi maailman suurimmista ihmeistä! Tosi kauniit värit tuossa kerässäsi, tekee miltei mieli itse alkaa kutomaan. Herkkuvärejä ja vaahtokarkkeja muutenkin, talvikuvia en uskaltaudu kommentoimaan kun olen hiukkasen allerginen niille...hyvää tulevaa uutta viikkoa toivotellen

  28. We would never find a forest of birch here like you have in the first photo Sara, isn't it amazing? Hot chocolate with marshmallows is my favourite TV snack at night with a bowl of popcorn. We only have white ones unless you get the minis that are pink and white. I had a friend that made her own marshmallows and they were delicious little squares, I have not endeavoured to make them though.

  29. Tuo ensimmäinen kuva on kyllä niin upea! Ihanaa marraskuista sävymaailmaa <3 Oikeastaan aika hauskaa, miten jokainen kuukausi on sävymaailmaltaan ihan omanlaisensa. Näin valokuvissa se tulee niin hienosti esille.

  37. Such nice contrast. The trees remind me of the an artist here in the states that would paint aspen groves with hidden images in the trees stands, much like your trees. The images were illusive of wild life and native Americans. And I do love the yarn. What will you make?
