Girl's best friends

This post is not about gemstones, even though it is about some small, colourful, brilliant objects that bring much joy to our life. :)

There are many precious things that don't cost much. On a cool autumn morning, the rain drops sparkled like diamonds.

The weather would be sunny, with scattered clouds. "The air up there in the clouds is very pure and fine, bracing and delicious. And why shouldn't it be? - it is the same the angels breathe." Mark Twain in Roughing It (1872)

There is still one week till the first Sunday in Advent, but since there were family members visiting us this weekend, we already decorated the two small spruces in front of the main door with Christmas lights.

One can spend blissful moments contemplating the stars, or the clouds, or the Christmas lights...

And that was the more lyrical part of this post!

I have the habit of saying that a good dictionary is a girl's best friend. Then I started to wonder what else a girl needs...

(The photos not mine are by the BBC, IsaDora, and Nikon.)

Linking with Mosaic Monday, hosted by Judith at Lavender Cottage!

Have a lovely new week!

  1. This is a beautiful post! I have not begun to decorate for Christmas as yet but I am looking forward to it very much. In you "wish list" the Nikon cameras stood out for me ;)

  3. Hi Sara. Looks like you are ready for Christmas. You asked about the mountains in my photos for today's post. They are the Rocky Mountains. Big mountains. Some above 14,000 ft. I'd have to ask my husband which one is in the background of the photos. We live east of the mountains on the prairie.

  4. Olemme siirtymässä joulun aikaan. Olen yrittänyt valmistaa kortteja mutta en juuri onnistunut. Sinulla jo kivat jouluvalot oven pielissä, minulla vain nämä luonnon luomat sadepisarakimalteet puiden oksilla. Tänä iltana naapurit tulevat glögille, ehkäpä laitan kahvipöydän jouluiseksi, että saamme viettää pikkujoulua

  6. Such lovely photos of your branches and lights. It's true there are so many things that are treasures that are absolutely free. Christmas always brings so many blessings.

  7. Ah yes, the saying "diamonds are a girl's best friend" holds true but I would rather have the diamonds seen glistening on your evergreen to bring me joy. I love the quote by Mark Twain, I may copy it to use myself some time.
Don't you wish we could have twinkling lights on our trees year round? We went with an Elf Light this year, a single light source that projects tiny dots of red green across the front of the house.
Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday Sara; my dictionary and thesaurus are both well used. :-)
