Received as a Christmas present from an attentive family member, this wonderful book charmed me from the beginning, as can be expected. :) It's lovely to browse through the informative and very beautifully illustrated pages.
The book helps the reader to recognise similar characteristics among plants and identify which family they belong to. The families are listed in roughly evolutionary order - and I find especially interesting the sections about the origins of each family.
The plant families explored are indeed the most familiar ones, also to us (enthusiastic) amateurs. Nevertheless, there's much to learn. Text boxes also give helpful insights into how to use each family and how to make the plants thrive.
Sain tämän ihastuttavan kirjan joululahjaksi. Kuvista tuli pimeitä ja epätarkkoja, mutta eiköhän kirjan kauneus tule kuitenkin esiin. :)
Happy Valentine's Day!
Hyvää ystävänpäivää!
Buon San Valentino!
Hyvää ystävänpäivää Sara!
VastaaPoistaIt looks like a truly outstanding book, Sara, the kind that would sit proudly in my shelves. Just judging from the illustrations seen in your blog post it resonates high quality. I am sure that you were very happy to receive this gift from a person who obviously knows your tastes well.
VastaaPoistaYou would surely enjoy reading it, David.
PoistaHappened to notice that in the USA this book is published by Chicago University Press under the title Plant Families: A Guide for Gardeners and Botanists.

VastaaPoistaHej Sara!
Kram!
This book seems to be very interesting. I love books with drawn pictures of plants. They are much more precise than a picture taken with a camera.
VastaaPoistaGreetings Kathrin
