Peacocking in Oxfordshire :)

Hello all and happy Sunday! Visiting Oxford in May, one of the highlights of my trip was - of course - the Harcourt Arboretum with its splendid rhododendrons and coniferous trees (a post coming soon).

Another attraction at the Arboretum are the peafowl. The Indian peacocks and peahens have lived there ever since their ancestors were introduced from the Indian subcontinent in the 19th century. The leaflet points out that the peacocks are not owned by the Arboretum and as wild animals they may be unpredictable. It's advisable not to feed, chase or try to touch them. Unfortunately, the leaflet doesn't tell what to do if the peacocks start to chase you and your sandwich... :D

Thank you for your comments on my previous posts. Comments remain closed until I have visited you all.

Hei ja hyvää sunnuntaita! Täällä ainakin on pilvistä, joten piristetään päivää Harcourt Arboretumin riikinkukoilla. Seuraava postaus (Arboretumin alppiruusuja ja atsaleoja!) tulee olemaan ennätyspitkä. :)
