Postcards #11: Piacenza, Italy

Welcome to our home town in Italy! Piacenza was founded as a Roman military colony in 218 BC and its name means a "pleasant place". Here are some glimpses of the town centre, of our wedding church (built from 1122 to 1233) and of the shiny windows of my favourite shops...

We had a walk in the town in the morning to avoid the high temperatures, but it was already rather warm.  Lovely days to remember now when the weather has turned rainy again. This year the Finnish summer was really short, here about one-two weeks long. :)

Yesterday evening, however, under my large umbrella I greatly enjoyed watching the rain and contemplating the golden coloured leaves on the ground.

  4. Ohhh, what a beautiful pictures to look at when it is raining outside the window. Latvian summer is also very short and it looks like an autumn already here.
As to the shopping, it was rather a shopping for the school season.

  7. We really have a good summer this year, the last few weeks, however, we have heavy showers but we needed the rain. You show us beautiful Piacenza, thank you.
An no, I have not yet been shopping for winter, I like to stretch the summer as long as possible. I like autumn and winter but not too early.

    I enjoy the pictures!
And no, I'm not buying winterclothing, we have a beautiful late summer. But I do long for the fall.
But I think, when you are in Italy, and there are many stylish clothingshops, I wonder if you also take something to house.
    Enjoy!

    Love, Gerry

  12. Fabulous Sara..we honeymooned in Italy and if we had the money would move there to live....of course we are both from Italian ancestry so Italian food is our favorite...and I could live on gelato alone.

  14. Haha, just when I think I have things figured out you show us your home town in Italy. So you are Italian living in Finland? :-)
The church is beautiful, stained glass to be admired as the modern church building I attend has no windows. The horse statue is wonderful, I'm glad you included it.
Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday Sara.
