October ends - Hyvästit lokakuulle 2017

October was rather cloudy and not very cold in our part of the country. There weren't many sunny days, but when the sun was shining, I tried to hurry out to take photos... and of course I took loads of them. :)

Happy November!

Aika tuntuu menevän koko ajan nopeammin. Taas on yksi kuukausi lopussa, ja jouluun on enää kuukausi, kolme viikkoa ja kolme päivää. :)

That autumn eve was stilled:
A last remains of sunset dimly burned
O'er the far forests, like a torch-flame turned
By the wind back upon its bearer's hand
In one long flare of crimson; as a brand,
The woods beneath lay black.

from Robert Browning's “Sordello”, Book I.

Translated into Finnish by Aila Meriluoto:

Syysilta oli vaiti.
Himmeät päivänlaskun rippeet vain
etäisen metsän yllä - lepattain
kuin soihtu kohti kättä kantavaa
punainen pitkä juova, alla maa
kuin hiiltä palon jälkeen.

PS Happy Reformation Day to those that celebrate it today. On this day 500 years ago, Martin Luther published his 95 theses protesting against the abuse of papal indulgences. He sent his theses together with letters to the Church authorities and legend has it he nailed them to the door of Wittenberg’s Castle Church.

Suomessa Uskonpuhdistuksen muistopäivää vietetään 22. sunnuntaina helluntaista, tänä vuonna 5. marraskuuta.

This is how it looks today... :)

Kaunista marraskuuta!

  2. Kauniita värillisiä värejä ja värittömämpiä taiteellisia kuvia taitavien kikkailujen kera - vai luonto itsekö saanut efektit aikaan ? 🖤❤️ Meillä jo hävisi ensi lumi. Tänään kirkas aurinko ☀️ Hyvää kuunvaihdetta !

    1. Kiitos samoin, Rita!
Kaikki näissä kuvissa esiintyvä taiteellisuus on ihan naturellia.

  17. Hi Sara: I was about to say that the colours of autumn will all too soon give way to the whiteness of winter, but it looks as though it has already happened. We had a few snowflakes here today, but nothing serious and in general we are forecasted to have a mild winter. we will see!

  20. October left you wonderful photos Sara. They are beautiful !! We still have good weather around here, we have not rained for many months. The rain is badly needed, everything is very dry.
Te deseo un buen miércoles Sara.

  21. Whooper swans! We only see them in winter, and they don't breed here. Very noisy, apparently.

  30. Kauniita lokakuun tunnelmia!

    Kram!

  34. Sara, very pretty photos! I see you had a little snow at your place, hadn't you? Here every day there is snowing, but a bit, then it melts and there are puddles on the roads. Yesterday I read about Martin Luther, that he nailed his theses. This fact was 5 centuries ago but his ideas are live till now.
    Have a nice weekend!
